Diageo PLC, headquartered in London, England and a multinational alcoholic beverages company, has revamped its website in an effort to increase transparency and provide more information regarding ingredients in the products the company produces. As the world’s largest manufacturer of spirits and a major producer of wine and beer, the company is committed to delivering the information consumers want in regards to nutrition, and how much alcohol they are actually consuming.
Not only has Diageo moved toward providing nutritional information on packaging, but also on its DRINKiQ.com website as well. According to Diageo’s Alcohol in Society director, Carolyn Panzer, consumers want to know as much about their drinks as they do about the foods they consume. Additionally, new alcohol guidelines in the UK have reduced the recommended amount of alcohol men should consume on a weekly basis, although recent U.S. guidelines claim that consumption of a moderate amount of alcohol can be part of a healthy diet.
Diageo’s new DRINKiQ website provides updated alcohol, calorie, and nutrition content on all of the company’s brands with additional information including sodium, sugar, saturated fat, and caffeine content. Visitors to the site will also find the “What’s in your Drink” tool and other tools designed to help consumers keep on top of their calorie and alcohol intake, responsible drinking tips, and other information consumers will find helpful.
