Control Group, a New Jersey-based company serving the U.S, Europe, Central and South America and the Far East with specialized printed packaging solutions, recently acquired the SEI Labelmaster that was displayed at Labelexpo Americas 2018 by SEI Laser and Matik, Inc. Control Group provides solutions to various industries including healthcare, cosmetic, nutraceutical, personal care and pharmaceutical.

The SEI Labelmaster is a laser machine and state-of-the-art system designed for processing roll materials in labeling and packaging applications. According to reports, Control Group tested several laser and flatbed finishing systems over the course of a year, inspecting cutting results of various vendors and considering the their responsiveness. They ultimately chose the SEI Laser for several reasons; the responsiveness of the SEI-Matik team, their familiarity with the company’s equipment due to a prior purchase, and the ease of which the materials and equipment were set up during the Labelexpo Americas 2018 event in a busy trade show environment.

Control Group co-President Bill Cheringal said that at the show, Matik was ready in an hour and that typically they would have had to return numerous times to the tooling company to get it set up properly. Control Group co-President Jeff Levine said that SEI Laser and Matik were extremely helpful, running numerous test runs during the trade show and in Italy. He was also impressed with their quick response to any questions or concerns.

The team at Control Group was also impressed by the SEI Labelmaster’s versatility and capability to do more than laser die cutting, as its semi-rotary print station will make it possible to print digital spot varnish without tooling. The new SEI Labelmaster is expected to go into production in November.
