Some of us know how “addictive” it can be to pop those little air pockets in bubble wrap. Now, a new product from Sealed Air Corporation may be stealing our fun, but products will be better protected during shipment, whether in delivery to the customer or returns. According to recent packaging news articles, Bubble Wrap IB provides superior cushioning protection during ecommerce shipping, and is virtually “unpoppable.”
Designed to protect small parcels during “rough and tumble” shipping, the Bubble Wrap IB combines specially designed air channels, film formulation, and a patented inflation technology, rather than individual bubbles found in traditional bubble wrap. According to the company, the new product provides 30% more protection and also transfers shock and impact away from the item being shipped via the special air channels.
Packing operations are capable of producing cushioning on-demand, as channels are filled from un-inflated, flat roll-film using the New Air I.B. Express inflatable cushioning system. Not only does the Bubble Wrap IB save on packing materials as consumers can use the same packing if they have to ship a product back, it also saves on shipping costs as well. How? With standard bubble cushioning, it would take 36 truckloads to equal the packing material in a single truckload of un-inflated Bubble Wrap IB.
Packing operations also benefit and save time, because fewer layers are necessary to sufficiently protect items being shipped.
It appears there are many benefits of using Bubble Wrap IB in ecommerce shipping, although a few “bubble poppers” may be disappointed in this latest packing technology!
