StandUpPouches.net, an online supplier of flexible retail packaging solutions who helps small and medium-size businesses grow their brands and market through innovative pouches, recently announced their findings after performing research regarding baby food packaging.
Partnering with Cint, an independent research firm, the survey involved more than 1,000 U.S. parents to get an idea of what type of baby food packaging parents would prefer when presented with traditional baby food jars and flexible pouches including a spout. Those who participated in the survey were asked questions based on perceived safety, how the packaging suited their lifestyle, convenience, appearance, and environmental impact.
Mallory Fetchu, Marketing Director at StandUpPouches.net said it was clear from the study that most parents prefer the flexible pouch over baby food jars. Fetchu also stressed the importance of conducting surveys in an effort to gain feedback from consumers on current packaging styles. The flexible pouch for baby food was an overwhelming hit in the report which found, among other things:
82% would buy baby food in a flexible pouch rather than the jar baby food they typically purchase
65% felt the stand up pouch would be a safer packaging choice for their child, compared to glass
86% stressed the importance of their babies being able to eat on the go
80% purchase Heinz, Plum Baby, Gerber, and other brands of baby food each week
According to Fetchu, brands can benefit from this information and should perhaps reconsider how they’re packaging products, particularly food.
Pouches are expected to remain the fastest-growing product in flexible packaging, and according to the Freedonia Group, lightweight flexible packaging is expected to grow to $15.5 billion by 2021.
