In recent lumber news, United Treating & Distribution, LLC expanded the company’s Muscle Shoals, AL manufacturing and distribution plant by buying the building and property located next to its current facility. In acquiring the property, UTD adds 54,000 sq. ft. to its operation, along with 5 1/2 acres.

UTD has been providing local building products dealers and manufacturing companies with its line of treated and untreated southern yellow pine since 2006, when CEO and Owner, Chad Epperson, began the business. Epperson has been in the lumber industry for over 25 years and said that, with the expansion, UTD will be able to carry additional inventory, along with new product lines. The company currently employs about 50 individuals but anticipates hiring additional employees soon due to the expansion of the business.

The company reportedly has more than 350 customers across 18 states and provides lumber to decking and fencing professionals, builders of portable barns, lumberyards, contracting groups, specialized industrial suppliers and more. Some of its partners include ACE, True Value, Orgill, Allied Building Stores and HDW Inc., among others.
